The growing concerns over limited turnout in test matches across the country prompted ganguly to make his first big move of announcing a day/night test within weeks, after taking over bcci’s 39th president. Ganguly has played a big role to influence the bcci take pink ball experiment, after its long resistance. On 22nd november 2019 , india made its debut in the pink ball era with bengal chief minister mamata banarjee and bangladesh prime minister shaikh haseena at eden gardens with india’s past and present cricketing superstars and political celebrities.

Pink Ball

The pink ball being used for india’s first ever day night test has been manufactured by sg. It has a circumference within 22.5cm and is made from imported leather. The inner core of the ball is made of cork and rubber. The ball weighs 156 grams and takes eight days to prepare as compared to two days for the red ball.
